How does counselling work?

Counselling is ultimately about change, it is an opportunity to talk about your life to someone who is a skilled listener, who listens with the purpose of understanding what it is really like for you, without judgement, with honesty. 

While there are many theoretical approaches used in counselling, it is most of all about the relationship, if you feel safe with your counsellor then your work can begin.
